Richard III is a history play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in approximately 1591, depicting the Machiavellian rise to power and subsequent short reign of Richard III of England. The play is grouped among the histories in the First Folio and is most often classified as such. Occasionally, however, as in the quarto edition, it is termed a tragedy. Richard III concludes Shakespeare's first tetralogy (also containing Henry VI parts 1–3). It is widely considered to be one of Shakespeare's greatest plays.

@alphabetania Richard III is depressing as all hell-little princes locked in the tower, Duke of Clarence drowning in a cask of Malmsy wine.

Ay me. Richard III is obnoxiously long. Not completely unejoyable, there's just lots of read-sparknote-doublecheck family tree-read again

"Act like a virgin, always answering “No,” but taking it in the end." Thank you No Fear Shakespeare. Now Richard III is so accessible.

Oof. The Shakespeare Ensemble's production of RICHARD III was awesome. Brutal in all the right ways.

@gsuh I'm so jealous! Richard III is soap opera extraordinaire, but Henry V my favorite. Henry IV 1 & 2 for Falstaff and Mistress Quickly.
